US crude oil output hit an all-time high in November, taking out the 1970 record, new data show

  • U.S. oil production rose to an all time high above 10 million barrels a day, revisions to monthly data showed on Wednesday.
  • American output slipped back below 10 million barrels a day in December, according to the first reading for the month.
  • The United States is now producing roughly on par with Saudi Arabia as the two vie for the title of the world's second largest oil producer.
