Seeking to plug water woes
The residents staging a peaceful protest outside their units in Taman Permata Block C in Bukit Mertajam to highlight their water supply problems.
RESIDENTS of Taman Permata Block C in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, staged a peaceful protest outside their units to urge the authorities to solve the protracted water crisis happening since February.
They claimed that the water supply to their units was disrupted following leaks in both their water storage tanks over the last few months.
A resident G. Saravanan, 45, who lives in the flat with his 44-year-old wife and two children, aged 20 and 21, said the water problems had been causing inconvenience to him and his family.
He said Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) would send their water tanker to fill up the tanks, but however, it did not solve the problems once and for all.
Beh Cha Boh, 63, who has been living on the fourth floor for the last 20 years, claimed that the water supply would only last for one hour and he had to walk down the stairs to get the water from a nearby place.

“I hope the relevant authorities will look into this problem,” said Beh on Saturday.
Japer Arsad, 60, who became physically disabled after a stroke two years ago, said he was living on the fourth floor with his wife and children.
“We have to depend on PBAPP each day to get the water supply as the taps will run dry frequently,” he said.
The residents held up placards to urge the authorities to take immediate action to solve their woes.
Meanwhile, Berapit assemblyman Heng Lee Lee, when contacted, said she was aware of the problems.
Although the flat did not have a Joint Management Body, Heng said she would help the residents get the problem solved.
